Inspirational Bible Scriptures Beautifully Presented
"Inspirational Bible scriptures.... What a great way to keep your attitude right and share God's love with others!"
How many times in our lives have we said, "Why did I do or say that?" Most of the time when we regret something it is because we acted out of emotion and didn't stop long enough to think it through. Thomas Jefferson's quote below, although spoken with a touch of wit, is great instruction to all of us in times of high emotion.
"When angry, count ten before you speak; If very angry a hundred." - Thomas Jefferson
This is called "having poise". Being able to collect ourselves and keep control. When we maintain our poise we may even find out that we were wrong and the other person was right. Poise is like the cork in the bottle that keeps bad things from coming out, and you know what they say about putting something back in the bottle once it's out. It's a pretty hard, if not impossible, thing to do.
When we follow the words in James 1:19, we will find ourselves attempting to put something back in the bottle that we wished we hadn't done or said on far fewer occasions.
"Let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath." - James 1:19
So, count ten, or one hundred if necessary, and listen. Then choose your words and actions wisely. You'll be glad you did!
